At Comfort Foodies, we believe that food is more than just sustenance—it's a bridge to culture, community, and comfort. Our journey began in 2020 with a simple tent, a passion for Latin Caribbean soul food, and a dream to share the flavors of home with the world.

Founded by Elsa and Jeff Matthews, Comfort Foodies brings together the vibrant heritage of the Dominican Republic and the heart of Houston, Texas. Elsa, a first-generation Afro-Latina immigrant, and Jeff, a Houston native, combined their love for bold flavors and soul-warming dishes to create a unique fusion that celebrates their roots.

What started as a small operation quickly grew into a beloved food truck and, by June 2022, a bustling brick-and-mortar restaurant. Today, we’re proud to bring the taste of Comfort Foodies to homes across the country with our new line of frozen empanadas—designed to deliver the same fresh, homemade flavor you’d enjoy at our table.

As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we invite you to follow along and be part of the journey. From launching our frozen empanada line to exploring new ways to bring comfort to your kitchen, we’re thrilled to have you with us every step of the way.
